OUTGOING president of the Kingsbridge Rotary Club, Phyllis Angliss, has given cheques to two charities that she has supported this year.

On Monday, June 27, at the Church House Inn in Churchstow, Phyllis handed over a cheque for £500 to Toby Russell, helicopter landing development officer for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, and a cheque for £500 to Liz Powell, volunteer at the Kingsbridge Triangle Centre.

When asked why she chose those two charities to be the President’s Charities for this year, Phyllis said: ‘Because we need both of them, and now the Devon Air Ambulance helicopters are planning to fly at night, they need even more cash to keep up their vital service.’

Phyllis is stepping down as president of the Kingsbridge Rotary Club today to be replaced with Sylvia Griffiths.
