The Kings Arms Hotel is up for sale by auction again, this time for a much higher guide price.

The former coaching inn has been a blight on Fore Street, Kingsbridge, for a while, going through a long list of tenants, before being put up for sale with a guide price of £400,000 in 2016, when it was bought by Luke Winham in 2016.

Despite a planning application being submitted and approved by South Hams Council, which included a commercial space on the ground floor and residential units on the upper floors, with two more homes built in the car park, the only work done on the property appears to be the installation of barriers, preventing drivers using the car park.

The building is now up for sale again, and with the planning permission, is now going to auction with a guide price of at least £1.2million.

Rosemary Dunstone, previously of Save The Kings Arms, SATKA, group, called it “ludicrous” and said that there is still a “downpour onto Fore Street” from the Kings Arms roof every time it rains.

We have been unable to contact Luke Winham for a comment on the sale. The auction will take place on Thursday, May 31.
