KINGSBRIDGE Community College students have been excelling in the world of sport recently, in rowing and judo.

On Monday, February 8, KCC students took part in the Sainsbury’s School Games Rowing Competition, competing against teams from Dartmouth Academy and Ivybridge Community College.

Sainsbury’s School Games aims to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. At the heart of the School Games is the understanding that competitive sport needs to be made accessible and enjoyable for all young people.

A spokesman for the college said: ‘KCC fully supports this programme and students were keen to get involved. The day was a success for the college too, as five students walked away with gold medals, two with silver and three with bronze.

‘Most importantly, everyone involved had a great time and a fun, yet exhausting, afternoon.’

Meanwhile, Cerys Callard has also been proving herself in the sporting arena as the Year 10 student won gold at the Peter Murphy Western Arena Competition -32kg girls. Cerys trains at the Quayside Leisure Centre in Kingsbridge once a week and in South Brent twice a week.
