Members of the Kingsbridge and South Hams Art Club are busy putting the final touches to their work for the Spring Exhibition which opens tomorrow.

Once again the Market Hall in Fore Street will be filled with paintings of an exciting mixture of media and styles. There is a diverse range of subject matter including paintings of the stunning local coastal areas, a proven speciality sought after by visitors to the area.

Speaking for the membership, exhibition organiser Geoff Goodwin said: “I’m sure we all look forward to our Spring and Summer Exhibitions when we can offer the fruits of our labour for inspection, enjoyment and possible sale.

“Saying goodbye to a painting that has taken days or weeks to complete and become very much part of the artist in some respects makes one feel slightly sad. It is very nice to know that one’s work has found a place in someone’s appreciation and will hopefully give pleasure for many years to come.”

Chairman of the club, Bill Buckby said: “We hope that both local people and tourists alike will support our annual Spring event. Everyone is welcome to come in and view an exciting range of paintings, all of which are original and the majority are on view for the first time.”

Entry to the exhibition is free and will be officially opened by the newly appointed Chairman of South Hams District Council at 11am on Saturday, May 13. The exhibition runs at the Market Hall until Sunday, May 28, and is open from 10.30am until 4.30pm daily, except for the final day when it will close at 3pm.
