For the fourth year in a row, Malborough’s Izzy Martin has been raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance.

In previous years, Izzy, 10, has sold cakes and lemonade in aid of the charity, but this year she went on a sponsored walk in June.

Izzy walked ten miles, along with her parents and grandparents, from Malborough down to North Sands, then to South Sands, Sharp Tor and East Soar Farm before returning to Malborough.

Izzy raised about £500 through sponsorship this year, meaning she has raised about £800 for the air ambulance over the past four years.

In February, Izzy was asked to turn on the new landing lights for the air ambulance at Malborough playing fields for the first time, these lights enable the ambulance to land at night.

Izzy’s mum, Hayley Pepperell said: “Izzy decided to raise money for the air ambulance because she often sees them land in the playing fields near our house. Thank you to all her family and friends who sponsored her.”

Emma Macey, shop manager at the Devon Air Ambulance shop, Kingsbridge said: “Izzy did brilliantly walking ten miles to raise money for the air ambulance. We’re so glad she thought so much of us to go to all that effort to raise money for us.

“We understand she’s planning to raise more money for us next year, so we look forward to seeing what she’ll do next!”
