It appears that dog waste has become more of an apparent issue in the area, rather than a dwindling one.
The councillors of the Salcombe Town Council raised concern in the town council meeting on Wednesday, April 11, about dog owners neglecting to pick up after their pets, especially as of late. They worry that the issue has gotten worse over the past few months, and will only continue to do so as the summer months roll in.
They’ve seen piles on “the side of the pavement”, and find that people are “burying it in the sand” - which of course leaves it for children to dig up or the tide to expose it within a few tidal changes.
There was, and will continue to be, a discussion on finding possible solutions to this problem, since there appears to be “more dogs than people these days!”
Having more bins, and plastic bags provided to the public were brought up by councillors, however some raised the concern of plastic being detrimental to the environment.
More to follow.
