Andrew Vaughan, of The Mounts, Kingsbridge, writes:

The South Hams Hospital League Of Friends would like to thank all those people who supported them with their Christmas draw. The draw took place at South Hams Hospital on December 23.

The winning tickets were drawn by Ted Stone who at 80 years old was the oldest patient staying at the hospital over the Christmas period. The draw raised £810 which will be used by the league to provide services and equipment within the hospital for the benefit of residence within the area.

The league would also like to thank both the Kingsbridge Morrisons and Tesco stores for allowing them to fund raise in their stores throughout the year.

On the subject of South Hams Hospital, the Kingsmen took time to entertain both patients and staff at South Hams Hospital in December. They sang a number of carols and festive songs to the eleven patients who were in Hospital over the Christmas period.

While the Kingsmen were singing, patients were handed gifts which had been donated by the South Hams Hospital League of Friends.

This was the fourth consecutive year that the Kingsmen have performed at the hospital.

Colin Saul who works at the hospital and is one of the singers said: 'All the guys enjoy singing to the patients who often find themselves in hospital over Christmas. We try and bring them a little of the festive spirit while they might be away from their families and homes over Christmas.'
