Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue has sent multiple teams to tackle a blaze at a property in Thurlestone this afternoon.

Fire control initially mobilised one fire appliance from Kingsbridge, one from Ivybridge and one from Totnes along with an operational assurance officer.

Due to the volume of calls to the control room, a further two fire appliances were sent from Dartmouth and Plymstock along with the aerial ladder from Crownhill.

The incident commander confirmed a two-storey property was well alight.

Crews were at work with two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and one thermal imaging camera.

At 1.46pm, the first floor of the property was confirmed as ablaze with crews at work outside.

Two breathing apparatus wearers, two 45mm jets, one hose reel jet, one compressed air foam jet were in use.

Western Power has been requested to attend.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said that the family of four staying at the property are safe,
