KINGSWEAR resident Peter Burr captured this unusual sight of the two Lower Ferry floats side by side on the Dartmouth slipway last Wednes­day morning. The pair were alongside each other for tug changes to be carried out by operators South Hams Council.

A council spokesman said: ‘Last week the Dartmouth ferry crew were changing the tug for the float Tom Avis, changing to the Hauley VI tug. There were no faults and the ferry was not grounded. We wait until high water to change the tug and would not attempt this in low water.’
