Tony Murdock, of Town Park, West Alvington, writes: I read with incredulity the letter from James Heaven regaring water-skiing at Widegates on Kingsbridge estuary. Let me say, I have, until now, been sympathetic to the needs of the water-skiiers. However, having read his unbelievably arrogant letter, I am now totally against any disturbance of wildlife in the estuary. I shall be writing to the council to to state my objections to any water-skiing in the estuary, as it would, without doubt, affect the peace and quiet of the wildlife habitat. Mr Heaven dismisses out of hand any opinion, it seems, that casts doubt on the effect of water-skiing on the wildlife and other users of the estuary. He states how the water-skiing club researched the situation as far as disturbance to wildlife was concerned. But it does not take a genius to workout that water-skiing in this at-present tranquil area must have a detrimental effect. I am sure that everyone in their right senses will now agree that the wildlife has every right to use the estuary, as indeed do we. As a public relation exercise, Mr Heaven's letter must have been a real boost to those advocating a no vote to the idea. I hope more people will become involved and one way or another state their views on this important matter of our beautiful estuary.
