KINGSBRIDGE Community College surfer Noah Capps has just returned from Morocco having represented England for the first time at the European Junior Surfing Championships.

Noah qualified for one of the two Under 14 England team places following his second place finish at the National Championships earlier this year and a series of training selection weekends.

He traveled to the Agadir region at the beginning of December with the team to stay at Moroccan Surf Adventures and to practise on the beachbreaks at Anza.

When the championships began, Noah opened with two good heats qualifying for the last eight in the main draw before illness forced his withdrawal from his semi-final. He was then forced to surf through the repechage, narrowly missing out to the eventual finalists.

In the end Noah finished in a fantastic ninth place out of 24 of the best young European juniors helping England to fourth place behind Portugal, Spain and Morocco. Individually, he also finishes 2016 ranked number two on the UK Pro Tour rankings.

Head of PE, Helen Tully, said: ‘We are immensely proud of Noah and his achievements at international level. The dedication and commitment he shows to his surfing is an inspiration to his peers at KCC.

‘We wish him all the very best as he continues to improve and rise through the rankings.’

Noah will train through the winter at local beaches as well as making more trips overseas in preparation for 2017. He also continues to film with Martin Connolly for Volume 4 of his 110 per cent Surfing Techniques series.

Noah would like to thank Protest Sportswear, Luke Young surfboards, Trioceansurf, Fuel 10k, Xcel wetsuits and John Moore physio for all their support over the year.
