WENDY JONES, of Market Street, Dartmouth, writes: Is it any wonder that local businesses in Dartmouth are feeling under attack by our local council? First, we are being forced to pay an extra tax from the Dartmouth BID and now, after such a beautiful summer, some businesses are being told they cannot put out tables and chairs for their customers to enjoy the sunshine. The embankment looked so pretty: the tables, umbrellas and chairs gave it a distinctly Continental feel and made the front look so much more cheerful. Does Dartmouth Town Council want to squash all enjoyment in the town? As far as regatta crowds are concerned, every pavement in the town was bustling with holidaymakers. The embankment especially – after all, it is the finishing line for local rowing races, which is an important event for holidaymakers too. Please Dartmouth, let's at least try to enjoy the summer, not to impose ridiculous rules.
