Have Gazette readers noticed the recent proliferation of Volkswagen Transporter vans adapted to carry passengers in the area?

This vehicle seems to have taken over from the Chelsea tractor as the yummy mummy's choice of transport.

Until recently this type of vehicle was only to be seen outside building supplies depots or on taxi ranks.

It now appears that the roads around the local primaries and the town's car parks are full of these machines in various stages of customisation – low- profile tyres being de rigueur.

I hope we don't get snow this winter or chaos will ensue in Fulham-on-Sea.
