Lockdown was no obstacle for local band CoolBeanz who’s COVID-19 single took the airwaves by storm.
CoolBeanz which is made up of Ian Feetenby, guitar and vocals; Alex Marsden, vocal and guitar; Matt Cook, guitar and bass; and Charlie Stainer on drums, were approached by school teacher Mike Dicks with some lyrics for a lockdown-inspired song to raise money for the NHS.
Alex quickly set to work writing the melody to the lyrics and then contacted his fellow band- mates to lay down their parts in their home studios.
Once the song was complete the group individually filmed themselves performing the track and Alex edited together the footage to create a music video.
Ian said: “Shortly after we put the video up we were interviewed by BBC Radio Devon who played our track.
“We then started hearing that the video had been played on the Friday morning on GMTV and then on the ITV lunchtime news followed by BBC Spotlight in the evening and most recently ITV West Country!”
Since being uploaded the song has gathered over 7,000 views on the band’s Facebook page.
The band are hoping that their song will help raise vital funds to help NHS and support workers.
Ian added: “We’re just four Devon boys, we didn’t expect it to take off as much as it did and we’re very grateful to everyone who has listened and shared the video and song so far.”
