Kingsbridge Town Bowls Club has received a £500 donation from housebuilder Baker Estates to help fund new equipment.

The sponsorship comes as Baker Estates builds new homes at Norden Meadow in Kingsbridge.

The donation will allow the club to purchase new woods and mats, which it says will benefit existing members and people looking to take up the sport.

Annie Williams, sales and marketing director at Baker Estates, said the company was “delighted” to support the club.

She said: “The club has a long history and plays a vital role in bringing the community together.

“By sponsoring the club, we hope to contribute to its ongoing success and encourage more people to take up and enjoy the sport of bowls in the area.”

A spokesperson for Kingsbridge Town Bowls Club said the club was “extremely grateful” for the sponsorship.

They added: "We are extremely grateful to Baker Estates for its sponsorship. This donation will allow us to purchase much-needed new equipment, benefiting our current members and those looking to try bowls for the first time. We look forward to continuing to welcome people of all ages to our friendly club."

Baker Estates said it is committed to supporting local organisations and community initiatives across the regions where it operates. It says that the sponsorship of Kingsbridge Town Bowls Club reflects the company's “dedication to investing in local communities” and helping valued organisations continue to thrive.

Baker Estates began building work at Norden Meadows, off Alvington Hill, in December 2025, and the first properties are now available to buyers.

The wider scheme will deliver 52 homes in total, including two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, as well as a number of two-bedroom apartments.

According to the final site plan, approved by South Hams District Council, Norden Meadows will include eight affordable houses and eight affordable flats.
