A paraglider has died after falling into the water near Start Point in the South Hams.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 2:35pm on Tuesday, July 23.

The man was pulled from the water and CPR was carried out on the beach, but he died at the scene.

Police said a second paraglider managed to land safely at Hallsands, but the relationship between the two is not known.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said the coastguard, paramedics, RNLI, two air ambulances, a coastguard helicopter and local officers all attended.

The British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association and the Air Accident Investigation Branch are being informed.
