Woolwell In Bloom have been going from success to success with a gold in the main competition with the Junior Bloomers entering In Your Neighbourhood (IYN) getting Level 5 Outstanding- the highest in the category followed by the Youth Cup and Bumblebee's Nursery getting Level 3 Outstanding in It’s Your School (IYS).

Chair of Woolwell in Bloom Soraya Lewis-Coleman said she was thrilled saying she was ”Absolutely elated, not slept, excited, over the moon.”

“Five of us managed to get there.”

She added:“It was a wonderful ceremony in the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay and the waves were crashing onto the beach magnificent.”

Soraya founded WIB in 2018 after watching ‘Get Inspired’ on TV which featured the competition and included an estate in the north.

Since then success has followed success as Soraya explained: “We've won six awards, four top awards and two next level down.

“Over that six year period so they have encouraged us to keep moving up the categories we're now in the top category and they call it the main event.

South West in Bloom is one of 17 regions that make up Britain in Bloom, the biggest horticultural campaign in Europe.

The aim of the campaign is to inspire community groups in Towns, Cities and Villages to make positive changes to their local area, by improving and regenerating local environments, through the imaginative planting of trees, shrubs, flowers and landscaping, conservation and recycling projects, and to sweep away the eyesores that blight our streets, such as litter, graffiti and vandalism.

The RHS Britain in Bloom campaign has been running now for over six decades, and during this time community gardening has brought so many people together, making new friends, getting to know your neighbours, and to forge stronger and more resilient community networks.

It has been another year of outstanding contributions towards maintaining and improving the environment, floral features and the lives of communities.
