Shocking pictures show the aftermath of a crash on the A38 near South Brent.

A roadblock was put in place to protect motorists following the multi-vehicle collision on Friday, October 25.

Images show a badly damaged white hatchback pressed against the central reservation on the eastbound carriageway.

Devon and Cornwall Police said one person suffered minor injuries in the crash, which involved several cars, and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

It happened amid heavy rainfall while widespread power cuts affected hundreds of homes around the county, including 42 in Newton Ferrers.

Sgt Dave Thorne, of Devon and Cornwall Police, urged drivers to drive to the conditions.

Posting on Twitter, he said: "A38 South Brent - multi-vehicle road traffic collision.

"Please be aware of queuing traffic in poor weather conditions."
