Costly mistakes and less than clinical finishing prevented Salcombe from beginning the year with a win.

It started well for the home side when they took the lead through a Stallard wonder goal from 25 yards.

South Brent levelled but Salcombe once again retook the lead, this time through a Milton header.

The remainder of the first half is one Salcombe will want to forget in a hurry. Brent levelled up with a header before basic errors from right-back Howell and 'keeper Bonnet gifted the visitors a two-goal lead.

Salcombe dominated the second half, especially once the Brent first choice 'keeper had be replaced through injury, but couldn't quite break down the resilient defence.

A missed penalty from Thorn and a host of seemingly easy chances came and went and although Salcombe did pull one goal back through Hobday they couldn't add to their tally.

Salcombe's next game is at home against  in-form Watcombe Wanderers seconds.
