South Devon Football League, Division Two: Beesands Rovers 0, Hookhills United 1
Beesands came into this game with a couple of changes from the previous week.
Lee Morgan paid the toll of taking some heavy tackles week in and week out, but his absence allowing ano-ther youngster Tom Hansen to start for the second consecutive game.
Tim Brooking was unavailable and his place was taken by Sean Raymont.
The early play was predominantly from the home team with Tom Hansen, Alex Browne and Andy Davis all featuring in attacks.
Hookhills came into the game forcing a corner which was easily cleared.
Tom Hansen produced a lovely run on the left, going in on goal and opening his body up for a shot which was saved for a corner. Browne's corner was headed to Hansen who passed to Browne whose cross was cleared.
Shortly afterwards Greenwood, having suffered an ankle injury, was substituted by Dave Lang. He was soon in the action, heading a Pascoe long throw across the area only to be cleared out as far as Davis. His pass to Pascoe was crossed too far into the area.
Lang's corner was headed back out to him and his shot was saved. Browne followed up with a brave attempt.
Hookhills responded and Raymont's defensive slip was recovered well by the centre half's tackle. Browne was robbed of possession and the shot was well saved by Carl Hoare.
Hookhills continued to press. Dennis made a recovering tackle and Raymont produced another headed clearance.
Bees hit back. Hansen received the ball from Pascoe's throw and showed some neat footwork to get the ball to Lang whose ambitious over the shoulder shot was wide.
At the other end Hookhills got in a cross which Hoare saved and his long clearance was met by a Wellens header but cleared. The half concluded with the spoils shared and more end to end play.
The second half started with end-to-end play again the order of the day.
Raymont's clearance to Hansen was flicked past the defender and his run was intercepted with a tackle. Dennis' pass to Davis was passed on to Hansen who cut inside nicely and his shot was saved. Lang's pass to Davis was passed inside to Browne whose long range shot was high and wide.
Hookhills followed up with their own attacks. Raymont headed one back to Hoare. One produced a shot over the bar.
However, their next attack produced a neat exchange of passes before ex-Bees player Aaron Theaker thump-ed a shot into the net.
Beesands continued to press forward with Bromfield, Davis, Hansen and Wellens having efforts with no return.
Bees continued to try to level the score with no luck.
Beesands next game is at Beesands Cellars to Ashburton, Saturday, November 17, with a 2pm kick off.
Everyone is welcome to go and support.
