Bracknell 26,
Ivybridge 36
Ivybridge, having completed their longest journey of the season, came away from Bracknell with maximum points after a great performance last weekend.
Bridge controlled and dominated the first 20 minutes after Bracknell had a player yellow carded for persistent infringements.
Ivybridge took full advantage of the extra man and following two penalty kicks by Billy Pinkus, James Tripcony crossed the line to score following a controlled phase of forward play. Blly Pinkus failed to convert.
Three minutes later scrum-half Ben Watts broke from the 22-yard line, side stepped the full-back and scored under the posts. Billy Pinkus made no mistake from the kicking tee this time.
With 22 minutes gone Ivybridge were leading 18-0.
Pinkus senior made it 21-0 shortly after with another well-struck penalty kick.
Bracknell stirred and just before half time scored a well-worked try, which was duly converted. At half time Ivybridge led 21-7.
Matt Finn took to the pitch in the second half, giving Nathan Reeves a well-earned rest.
Bracknell started the second 40 far better than Ivybridge and were rewarded for their efforts with a classic forwards pushover try.
Ivybridge, though, hit straight back, catching the ball from the restart and, following an impressive 25-metre maul, fizzing the ball out for player-coach Lewis Patterson to cross the line unchallenged.
He made sure of the two points, which were again converted by Billy Pinkus, by racing from wide to put down between the posts.
The game was swinging one way then the next as both teams played their expansive brand of rugby.
Bracknell were next to score and when the try was converted Ivybridge led 28-21. Ivy continued to throw the ball around and were rewarded when Billy Pinkus caught a lovely pass out wide and crossed to score for the bonus point.
Bracknell were not finished yet. Sustained forward pressure on the Ivy line saw them score a bonus-point try themselves but they failed to get the extra points.
In the dying minutes of the game, following another yellow card for Bracknell, more pressure from Ivy yielded another penalty, which Billy Pinkus put away to secure a well-earned victory.
