With three gig regattas taking place along the south coast, there was not a large turn out for Cattewater's annual regatta.

A shame, as the races take place inside Plymouth's outer breakwater, giving fair racing conditions, even in Saturday's strong winds.

The first race for Dart was the ladies' B. It took the crew a while to settle. They had a tussle with local crew Brixham, who eventually pulled away from Dart just before the first mark.

Other local neighbours, Salcombe were outside the Dart crew and they also managed to pull ahead of Dart just before the first mark.

Salcombe had to go wide outside Brixham, which gave Dart the opportunity to cut inside Salcombe on the mark.

Thereafter, the Salcombe crew dropped back and Dart settled into their rhythm, crossing the finish line in fifth place.

The ladies' A race followed. Dart, very kindly coxed by Lance Worthington, had a good start. Caradon took an early lead, with Teign occupying second spot.

Dart lost their third place on the second mark and came home in fourth place.

The final race of the day for Dart was the ladies' vets. Dart, gratefully coxed by Jonny Holmes, had a great race, managing to settle well, and settled into third place which they maintained to the end of the race.

Ladies: Ella Chivers, Bonnie Chivers, Chloe Gardner, Carol Squire, Paul Hine, Clare Thorp, Maggie Russell, Lucy Swash, Kate Cooke.
