KINGSBRIDGE Community College pupil Ollie Wotton has become British Junior skiing champion for the third year running – at the tender age of 12.

Wotton, from East Allington, took part in a gruelling skiing camp and British National Championships in Rauris, Austria.

Out of the 54 skiers selected to race in the championship, most of whom were adults, the prodigiously talented youngster came 16th overall in the whole event.

He was given the gold medal for best British junior, matching his achievement in 2011 and 2010.

Last season he was selected to be part of the junior development team for GB, as he had showed great potential in last year's championship.

Chris, Ollie's father. who himself finished fourth in the British Championships, said: 'I am very proud of Ollie. I have raced against him now at the Championships for three years in a row and each year he is knocking off about 10 seconds from his times.

'This means that, in two years time, he will be beating me.'

Mr Wotton added that his son was still too young to take part in World Cup events given that you have to be 15 to enter these.

Meanwhile, Wotton junior's coach Urban Simcic, from Slovenia, said of his pupil: 'He is a dynamic and courageous young skier.'
