Petroc division one
Dartmouth 7,
Dartmouth routed an understrength Newton Abbot side with a positive display of fast-moving hockey.
Playing their home game at Kingsbridge again, Dartmouth were far better prepared and quickly out of the blocks with probing attacks via wings Di Bradley and Jaz Harvey.
With Lisa Hunt, Siobhan Edwards and Jamie Rendle holding the midfield safe, provision of good ball to the forwards was plentiful.
Dartmouth finally opened their account via a nice cross from Di Bradley where captain Lucy Pillar did not miss from short range. Di Bradley was provider-in-chief once again as left wing Jaz Harvey snapped her first with a near-post effort.
Dartmouth had the game fully in control following a short corner belter from Chloe Edwards which was well saved, but Jamie Rendle was quickly on the goalie to finish off the move.
The second half was a bit sluggish at first, with Dartmouth nowhere near as sharp as they were in the first half and it took another goal from Jaz Harvey following some great passing from Lucy Pillar and Di Bradley to settle nerves.
Newton Abbot never gave up and were always dangerous in attack with a rare mistake in defence leading to a goal.
This immediately stung Dartmouth into action and a charging run from Hannah Pillar released Jaz Harvey to complete her third.
Newton Abbot heads dropped as their defence struggled which was an invitation to Lucy Pillar who pounced on a clearance, drove into the D and completed a fine individual goal.
Lucy wrapped the game with her third goal with Siobhan Edwards being provider of the cross. This was a great team performance by all.
Dartmouth play a re-arranged fixture against Dawlish on Saturday with the game being played at Torbay Girls' Grammar School.
