Dartmouth Karate Club has continued its grading success recently with a grading under the Karate Union of Great Britain’s chief instructor sensei Andy Sherry.

The club is extremely privileged to have such an important and experienced instructor as its grading examiner. Sensei Sherry has been training in Shotokan karate since 1959, and was the first British person to gain the coveted black belt.

He is now one of the highest graded karateka in the world, currently holding the rank of ninth dan.

Dartmouth Karate Club has been running sessions in the town since 1974 under the instruction of sensei Peter Atkins, who is the backbone of the club and its chief instructor.

The club runs two sessions a week in the leisure centre, Wednesday 6.30pm-8pm and Sunday 10.30am-noon.

It also runs junior sessions for seven-year-olds and upwards on Wednesday, 6pm-7pm and Sunday 10.30am-11.30am.

The club has no direct debits or other charges, you only pay when you train.

If you are interested in coming along to train, the first session is free.
