Wrangaton Golf Club
Despite the cruelly inclement weather, Wrangaton vets have done their best to complete their early season competitions.
Sandy Robertson and John Fox have won the last two weekly stableford competitions, like their fellow competitors successfully carrying their clubs across the wild moors and the sodden parklands.
On Tuesday, February 12, the winter four ball better ball reached its conclusion when the 10 pairs successfully completed their final match on a very cold but thankfully dry day. Alan Smith and Brian Oliver proved worthy winners, being the only pair to win all their matches.
The next three Thursdays will host three different types of competition before the first of 28 inter-club matches, away to the Warren Golf Club, Dawlish on March 7.

Saturday saw probably the best day of the year so far with no rain or wind and the sun was out.
A field of 75 men took to the course in a qualifying stableford, which resulted in some high scores over three divisions and a hole-in-one.
With the course in superb condition, the winner of division one with 41 points was Ollie Nute, followed by Ian Black on 39 points and Mark Scrivener on 38 points.
Division two was won by Chris Stolworthy with 41 points. Ian Bentley was second with 40 points and David Rogers third with 36 points.
Division two player Jonathon Axten achieved a hole-in-one on the fourth hole.
This up-hill par three always proves difficult and Jonathon thought his ball had missed the green to the left, but after a short time searching his partner suggested that he might look in the hole and there it was with no clue how it got there.
The third division recorded the highest score of the day with 43 points being scored by Chris Herriot. Natahan Chapman was second with 39 points on count back from Andy Abraham, also with 39 points.
A full field took to the course on Sunday in the winter league to round off the best conditions seen on the course for this year so far.
