Ivybridge 2nd XI 227-9, Kingsbridge 2nd XI 182 all out.
Ivybridge (20pts) beat Kingsbridge (eight) by 45 runs.
On winning the toss Kingsbridge elected to bowl on a cold damp day at the Butts hoping to continue their winning form, writes James Ellis.
It was Tony Treeby who took the first wicket to fall, picking up the Ivybridge opener lbw. Wickets fell at regular intervals, with Mark Edmonds grabbing two along with Will Pike and captain Clive Clarke.
There was one apiece for brothers Josh and the ever-improving Rob Dorey. Some hard lower-order hitting, which included Clarke being hit for three successive sixes, took Ivybridge to a total of 227-9.
With rain around Duckworth-Lewis may have been brought into play during the home team's innings, but despite a couple of rain interruptions the game was completed.
However, the result was not the one Kingsbridge were looking for.
Their innings got off to a bad start with opener John Hardy falling without scoring.
James Ellis and Elliot Bradbury added 65 for the second wicket, taking the score to 66 before Bradbury fell for 26.
This brought Edmonds to the middle, looking to prove a point to his captain about batting in the top five.
Ellis scored 34 before being bowled by the impressive Solomon, the first of four wickets for the bowler in an impressive spell of 4-18 from nine overs.
Edmonds, looking at ease at the crease, became worried at losing partners, with Pike, Will and Josh Dorey all departing for single figures.
Clarke came to the crease and looked to lead his team to the victory.
With batting getting difficult in the appalling conditions and the overs running out, shots needed to be played to lift the run rate. Clarke departed looking to hit big again after hitting a huge six back over the bowler's head.
Edmonds reached a deserved 50, but unfortunately no-one else contributed and as soon as he lost his wicket the game was all but over.
The run out of Matt Hammett sealed the victory for local rivals Ivybridge, giving them a full 20 points.
Tomorrow sees the second team back in action in the long trip away to Barnstaple.
