Another busy weekend for the Erme Valley Harriers with action in the Sportshall and also on the country.
The third of the season's Sportshall League match took place at Dawlish Leisure Centre and the team did well again, despite numbers being a bit down.
In the U10 girls' age group Olivia Travers won both the one-lap and two-lap races and finished second in the vertical jump, equalling her own club record of 47cm.
In the same age group Zara Penn won the standing long jump with an excellent jump of 1.87m. There were also two third places with Bronwyn Harris in the soft javelin and Elowenn Tuhill in the vertical jump.
There were two under 10 boys competing this time, who both did well in all their events. James Scantlebury's best performance was a fourth in the sitting throw and Rory Wing came seventh in the javelin.
The U11 girls' age group was one of the club's best. There were wins for Leila Rodger in the javelin, Olivia Osbourne in the sitting throw and the obstacle relay team.
Ruth Green managed to finish second in all her events and there were also second places for Charlotte Hope in the four-lap race and Izzy Courtman in the sitting throw.
In the U11 boys' group the club had three athletes who all did well. Louis Velasquez-Vine set a new club record of 52cm in the vertical jump and also equalled the high jump record.
Lewis Greenwood won the two-lap hurdles and finished second in the standing long jump. Daniel Norton also finished second in the standing triple jump.
In the under 13 boys' William Bedford equalled his club record in the high jump and Dylan Fox won the speed bounce and finished second in the six-lap race.
Lily Coxon was the club's sole representative in the U15 girls' and she took two third places in the speed bounce and two-lap hurdles.
There were an excellent turnout of 15 boys this time, with Luke Riou winning the triple jump and taking second in the long jump and high jump.
Nathan Brown, who had competed in a gruelling cross-country the day before, won the speed bounce and finished second in the six-ap race.
The other two representatives, Liam Hallows and Harry Hargreaves, did well in their events and helped the team to a win in the relay.
The team is now comfortably lying second in the league behind runaway leaders Plymouth AC.
A lot of the club's cross-country runners competed in the Devon Schools Championships the day before.
The course, at the Big Sheep in Bideford, was tough, but Will Battershill covered the muddy ground superbly to win the inter boys title. Nathan Brown finished 11th in the same race but unfortunately lost a shoe, which affected his position.
In the junior girls race Emily Oakshott finished sixth which means she will be seleted to run for Devon, along with Will, at the SW Schools in Bournemouth. Nathan will have to wait on the selectors.
