Wrangaton Golf Club
On Tuesday, July 19, Wrangaton’s senior section travelled to Stover Golf Club to play the first leg of their Emerton court match. It turned out to be a very successful day, as Wrangaton won the first leg 4-1, which was an extremely good result away from home. The second leg will take place on Wednesday, July 27. Wrangaton will need 1½ points in order to progress into the next round.
On Thursday, July 21, the seniors section held their monthly medal. David Rogers came out on top in division one, beating Peter Swift on countback (net 70). Julian Mitchell took third place with a score of net 71.
Alan Hill won division two with a great score of net 68, Ken Dedman took second place with a score of nett 71 and Sandy Robertson finished one shot back in third place with net 72.
Tim Dando was the winner of the weekly nine-hole Captain’s Night roll-up. Tim finished with 19 points and beat Chris Funrival and David Steel on countback. Paul Dunkley finished one point back in fourth place with 18 points.
Club PGA professional Stuart Barrett held his first-ever pro shop away day at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. More than 30 players took part in the day. The weather was kind and everyone enjoyed the challenge of the championship course.
Ian Waites was the overall winner of the individual event, with 37 points. The team prize was won by Chris Harper, Stewart Ewens, Dean Dickerson and Andy Searle (Wrangaton’s PGA assistant professional) with a score of 80 points.
The players enjoyed a meal after their game and everyone had a great day.
