ON THE agenda for the senior members at Dartmouth Golf Club on Monday, August 17, was a Stableford qualifier from the championship blues.
Standard handicap protocols were the order of the day and there were 31 players were in the field.
This was lower than normal as 12 members were involved in the third round of the South Devon Senior’s League at Dainton Park. But today’s requirement was to keep the ball in the fairway and under club where practical!
Robert Wotton and Kevin Bradley were the two standout performers, taking first and second respectively as well as the Division Two spoils.
They scored 42 points apiece with Robert edging it on countback. Both are in superb form and can expect significant cuts to handicap.
Meanwhile, David Thompson & Mark Whitworth both had great rounds too and took the Division One prizes. David had 39 points and Mark was just one behind him.
Only Robert Wotton scored positively at every hole which indicates the current level of difficulty while navigating the course. Like all golfers, some rain is needed to soften the unpredictable fairways.
Impressive scores also came from Tony King, with 39 points, and Ralph Clark, with 38.
Competition result- 1st Robert Wotton on 42 points (back nine countback), 2nd Kevin Bradley 42, 3rd Tony King 39, 4th David Thompson 39, 5th Mark Whitworth 38, 6th Ralph Clark 38.
No birdie twos were recorded and thanks go to competition guru Nigel Osborne who counted them all back.
Elsewhere in the knockout competitions, Gordon Kidd and Dean Raspin beat Kevin Hoare and Colin Weedon in the Perring Cup semi-final whilst Robert Wotton booked his place in the Blight Trophy final, thanks to a win over Ian Black.
Next week sees the final round of the Senior’s Cup.
