The ladies held a greensomes competition on Wednesday but reduced it to nine holes due to the weather conditions writes Liz Line.

The wind was very strong and showers kept sweeping across the course, but Jane Mason (18) and Sally Huntley (15) still managed some great shots and won with 17 points, from Sue Curry (23) and Liz Sharman (18) with 15 points.

In third place were Lindsey Fletcher (13) and Barbara Smith (18) with 13 points and fourth Liz Hay (15) and Thai Wharton (34) with 12.

The semi-finals of the Winter Foursomes Knockout had to be played by Sunday and one pair of winners were Janice Croke and Nicole Carter, who had a walkover.

The other semi-final, which saw Jennifer Roberts and Paula Orr take on Barbara Smith and Liz Sharman, went right down to the wire and was played on Sunday.

It was cripplingly cold with very gusty easterly winds. Jennifer (3) and Paula (29) beat Barbara (18) and Liz (18) on the 18th.

On the front nine Liz and Barbara were up and then Jennifer and Paula won the 10th, 11th and 14th.

They were all square going down the 18th, where Jennifer and Paula got a par five and won.

Twenty four men entered the medal at Thurlestone on Saturday, and due to the rain it was carrying only. In division one the winner was Steve Pike (1) with net 69 from Daniel Cunning­ham (12) with net 70, third was James Mar­shall (3) with 74 and Marcus Hatton (13) 74.

In division two the winner was Robert Hyde (23) 76 from John Tiner (21) 76.
