The next event on the Erme Valley Harriers Athletic Club calendar is the the Ivybridge Beacon Challenge, which takes place this Sunday, starting at 10.30am.
This year is a make or break one for this event, as dwindling numbers of runners meant last year the Harriers' actually made a loss, which the club can ill afford to do.
The entry fee is only £8 (£6 for EA competition license holders). Entries will be accepted on the day (with an extra £1 charge) at Tone Leisure Centre, Ivybridge, where parking, changing, showers and refreshments are all available.
This scenic, but challenging, multi-terrain race starts and finishes in Victoria Park, Ivybridge.
The course covers around 7.5 miles of woodland and moorland paths and includes the ascent of Western Beacon.
Last year's winners were Arran Tocknell of Torbay AC (53:56) and Maddie Horton (1:01:32).
Prizes are awarded for a large spread of age categories and there is a mmento to all finishers, as well as a great feeling of satisfaction.
