WHILST Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police 1st XI concluded their campaign with a draw at Torrington AFC, Bovey Tracey AFC picked up nine points in eight days to finalise their place at the top of the SW Peninsula League Premier East table.
On Saturday, April 25, Bovey welcomed Ilminster Town to the Western Counties Roofing Ground with the silverware already secured.
After a poor first half from the hosts, in which they went 1-0 down, the Moorlanders came out swinging to win 4-1.
The league’s golden boot winner Levi Landricombe scored the first two and he was then joined on the scoresheet by substitutes Stuart Bowker and Alex Gray.
In between goals three and four, Bovey were able to give Cliff Walters an impromptu guard of honour. The captain is hanging up his boots after over 25 years with the club.
Bovey finished the season on 82 points and with a goal difference of +108.
