Bodmin Town 8

Ivybridge Town’s challenging fixture list continues tomorrow when they take on Tiverton Town, who sit eighth in the league writes Tim Leigh.

The Bridgers will be keen to ensure they step up their defensive efforts after conceding eight goals at home to Bodmin last weekend.

The defensive issues that have dogged Ivybridge this season are something general manager Brian Howard is well aware of, with the boss saying: ‘We’re conceding far too many goals, there’s some straight talking to be done and we’ll see how we do on Saturday.

‘We’ve got two more tough games, against Tiverton then St Austell, and we’ve just got to be better.

‘I was disappointed with Saturday, for the first 60 minutes we actually played really well.

We were 2-0 down at half-time but we had created some good chances and played well, then the first 15 minutes of the second half we were all over them and I thought we could get right back into it.

‘We pulled one back through a good goal from James Rowe, but then they scored twice inside a minutes and our heads dropped.

‘They dominated the rest of the game really, though Todd Hanrahan did manage to score again from the penalty spot, even though his initial effort was saved.

‘Overall, there’s not many positives to take from the game, even though we know they’re a good side.’
