The second weekend of May is always an extremely busy one for Erme Valley Harriers with their own 10K race being held on Saturday evening and the Devon county track and field championships being held at Exeter Arena.

Erme athletes did extremely well in the Devon County Championships, with the U17 women taking the centre stage.

Miranda Hardacre took two gold medals and set club records in both the 200m and 300m.

Miranda's time in the 300m was 40.80, which places her twelfth on the UK rankings and is an English Schools qualifying time.

Her 200m time was 25.60s, which was run into a headwind.

Carie Roberton also set a club record in the 300m hurdles, winning the event in 46.76s. She also won the sprint hurdles, was second in the high jump with a jump of 1.45m and also threw 7.02m in the shot.

The other club record was set by Robert Stockdale in the U13 boys' 600m. In a high-quality race Robert finished seventh with a new record time of 1.53.38.

He also took two medals with a silver in the 100m in a time of 14.43s and a bronze in the 200m (30.20s).

In the U15 boys group Max Wright did well, going under 13 seconds in the 100m final (12.99) and also recording a time of 26.79s in the 200m heat.

Nathan Brown continued his unbeaten run, winning the U15 boys' 800m in a time of 2.19.72.

Luke Riou took a bronze in the triple jump with his first competition jumping 9.70m. Luke also jumped well in the long jump, recording a longest jump of 4.55m.

Jake Abraham had a busy weekend, taking a silver in the 100m hurdles (16.99s) and a bronze in the 100m (12.37s). He also narrowly missed out on a gold in the long jump on countback, jumping 5.25m.

Luke Honey also competed in the U17 men's 1500m and finished fifth in a time 4.35.98.

In the Ivybridge 10K club honours went to the ladies, who won the team prize.

Jaine Swift was the third lady back (38.17), supported by Alison Thorne in fifth (39.47) and Jess Harvey in seventh in 41.18. Alison took the prize for third V35 lady while Jaine set a new club record for vet 40 women.

Best of the male results was Al Ryder in 11th place in a time of 35.14, which gave him third in the V45 section and was also a new V45 club record.

Richard Wallace also made a good return to racing, completing the course in a creditable 36.41.
