Ivybridge skipper Adam Huxtable confessed to mixed feelings about his side’s performance during their first season back in the A Division.

As consolidation after promotion was tantamount, eighth in a table of ten was a box ticked, sort of!

Ivybridge were third in the table six games into the season with four wins to their name. They only won twice more after that.

Said Huxtable: “At the start of the season our goal was for stay in the division – and we've achieved that.

“I do feel that we could have done a lot better and have let ourselves down at points.

“I have no doubt we will come back stronger next year.”

Dinesh Raheja, back for a second spell at Filham Park, was the leading run getter with 502 at an average of 38.62.

South African Mickey Copeland averaged exactly 36 from 468 runs scored. His 114 against champions Torquay & Kingskerswell was Ivybridge’s only ton of the season.

Spinners prospered for Ivybridge with Copeland (24wkts) just ahead of Huxtable (22) in the list.

Huxtable will have some recruiting to do during the close season as the Johnson brothers – batter Harvey and all-rounder Arthur – are moving to Australia. Utility player Farzad Safi is moving to London.

Meanwhile, Ivybridge 2nd XI secured a sixth-placed finish in the D Division West with their final day fixture away at Ipplepen 2nd XI being a non-starter.

Returning to the A Division and Bridestowe & Belstone, who finished five points and one spot ahead of Ivybridge 1st XI, were one of many teams to see their season come to a soggy conclusion as their clash with Bovey Tracey was rained off.

Shay Glasgow’s 559 Saturday afternoon runs put him out in front on the batting list and despite a five-game hiatus due to a broken hand, Craig Penberthy still headed the wicket-taking table with 27 at around 10 runs each.
