Entries are now open for the popular Ivybridge 10K road race, which is being run this year in memory of club member Barrie Symonds, who sadly lost his battle against illness on the same day as the 2012 Ivybridge 10K.

This spectacularly scenic race, taking place on Saturday, May 11, at 6.30pm, starts in Ivybridge station car park and finishes at Ivybridge Rugby Club.

The course is relatively fast, despite the steep hill from Bittaford to Moorhaven.

The last six km of the route are almost all downhill, making for a fast second half of the race.

There is an extensive prize list available across a large spread of age categories. Most categories will receive a prize for first, second and third (only one prize per person).

There is also a £50 cash prize to break the male and female course records. Male record: Kairn Stone 31:08 (2010) Female record: Helen Parkinson 36:58 (2010).

As usual, there is a quality race memento T-shirt to all finishers.

The entry fee is a competitive £12, or £10 for those with an England Athletics Competition License.

Pre and post-race sports massage will be available at Race HQ (Ivybridge Rugby Club), where there are changing facilities, showers, refreshments and a licensed bar.
