Loddiswell AFC 3, Buckland Athletic Reserves 1

Current league leaders Buckland Athletic reserves were the vistitors to Loddiswell AFC for this South Devon Premier League clash.

Buckland, having won both of their opening league games in convincing style, started the game much the stronger side, their excellent passing and movement causing problems for the home defence.

It was, therefore, no surprise when Buckland took the lead after 20 minutes with a well-taken cross and near-post finish.

Loddiswell were forced to change their tactics, moving Matthew Price into central midfield alongside Myles Chalcroft and James Ivatts. The extra pressure had an immediate effect and against the run of play captain Myles Chalcroft scored with a stunning volley from a Danny Tucker cross to level the scores at 1-1.

Loddiswell found themselves 2-1 up at half time when Chalcroft scored again within two minutes to turn the game on its head, side footing home from six yards after a mishit shot from Rob Tapper.

The second half was a much more even affair, with both sides having chances to score.

It was the home side who got the goal when debutant James Ivatts broke through a challenge and sent striker Danny Tucker clear to coolly curl the ball around the advancing 'keeper.

Buckland pushed hard to get back into the game, but good handling from goalkeeper Simon Tapper and a tremendous double block from defender Richard Gomm made sure their lead stayed intact, securing a fantastic three points for the club.

Next week Loddiswell are at home to Stoke Gabriel reserves for a 2.30pm kick-off.
