Erme Valley Harriers had five runners in Sunday's London Marathon, with the star performance coming from Alison McEwing, who broke her own club record with a time of 3.06.17.
Alison was on for a sub-three-hour clocking but the last few miles proved to be harder than she had hoped. Nevertheless it was an excellent performance.
Russ Mogridge ran a superbly paced race to finish in 3.26.35, running the second half of the race faster than the first half.
The others to complete the 26.2 miles course were Nick McMahon in 4.01.17, Jon Lake in 4.33.01 and John Lee, who battled around after recent injuries to finish in 4.48.34.
On Saturday, in the Southern Athletic League Sam Trigg continued his excellent season, recording a triple jump of 13.58 and a long jump of 5.99m.
Sam had already set the triple jump record for the U20 age group this season with a 13.98m jump at Par.
Also on Saturday, we had two athletes representing Devon in the National Sportshall final in Birmingham.
The U13 boys team finished seventh overall and Luke Riou finished sixth in the standing triple jump with a jump of 7.13m, only a few centimetres below his record.
Nathan Brown ran the six laps and finished an excellent fifth place, and he also took part in the speed bounce, recording 73 bounces in 30 seconds.
The previous week, at a cold and windy Exeter track, we had a number of athletes who took part in the Ken Trickey open event. Nathan Brown won the U15 boys 800m in a new personal best of 2.26.62 and there were also two wins for Miranda Hardacre in both the 100m and 300m, the strong winds preventing any personal best performances.
Carie Robertson finished third in her 300m hurdle race, but did set a personal best in the 200m of 27.46 to take second place.
Luke Honey ran both the 800m and the 1500m in the U17 boys category, taking second place in the 1500m with a time of 4.40.63 and third place in the 800m in a time of 2.11, both of which were affected by the conditions.
We had just one athlete in the U13 boys category, Aiden Porter-Holborn. Aiden jumped 1.05m in the high jump and 3.10m in the long jump.
This weekend there is the first Devon open at Braunton on Sunday and also a Sportshall event at the Plymouth Life Centre on the Saturday.
