The great British weather yet again marred what looked like was building up to be an intriguing contest between Kings and local rivals Ivybridge at the Butts.

Heavy showers preceding the match meant the start was delayed by 40 minutes and the overs were reduced to 40 per side.

Ivybridge won the toss and, unsurprisingly, decided to field.

Openers Westlake and Fletcher were once again positive and didn't let the opening bowlers of Ivybridge settle.

The away team were becoming frustrated from not picking up early wickets on a wicket conducive for bowling.

Quick singles and regular boundary hits from Westlake and Fletcher moved the score along.

Fletcher was again looking on course for another big score until he hit one straight to gully for an enterprising 41 with the score on 74 in the 16th over.

This brought Ben Glover to the crease to join Westlake who continued to find the boundary until he was somewhat questionably adjudged lbw for 41, with the ball appearing to be going over the stumps.

This left Kings on 92-2 in the 21st over.

Ashley Treeby then joined Ben Glover at the crease who was taking a like to the off spin of Solomon.

The score soon passed 100 to give Kings a batting point.

However, another heavy shower dispelled any chances of carrying on and in the end both captains agreed enough was enough and the match was subsequently abandoned.

The score had reached 114-2 in the 24th over with Glover reaching 25 not out and Treeby 2 not out.

This Saturday's match sees Kings travel to fourth in the table Stoke Gabriel, where a positive result must be achieved to have any aspirations of gaining promotion.

The club would like to thank Palladium Builders for sponsoring the match ball.
