ALLINGTON were unlucky not to come away from Upton with at least a point, and it could have been all three as they had the better chances.

After a cagey opening the home side took the lead when a cross was headed home just inside the post.

Allington began to get a grip on the game, with Andy Davis making probing runs from midfield and they soon got a deserved equaliser, Ben Robey drilling in a low shot inside the near post. He was unlucky not to give them the lead when he chipped the 'keeper, only for a covering defender to get back and clear the ball off the line as the first half ended.

In the second half both sides had their share of attacks, but Upton regained the lead when a scuffed shot bobbled into the corner. It was their only effort on target, whereas their goal led a charmed life, with Allington creating a number of chances. Robey pulled a shot wide when well-positioned, James Ivatts just failed to make contact from a great ball from Andy Davis, who then set up Jon Burt, whose well-struck shot went straight to the 'keeper.

A good move between Robey and Jon Davis set up Andy Davis, but his close-range effort went over the bar.

This week the first team travel to Bovey Tracey for a 2.30pm kick-off; players meet at 12.45pm. The reserves travel to Roselands in the Ronald Cup semi-final for a 2pm kick-off; players meet at 12.15pm.
