This yearwas no different for Salcombe Ladies than the previous three years in the South Hams Summer Tennis League, with Salcombe dominating the ladies' league. This year they won by a greater margin than ever before.  Salcombe won all of their 12 matches with 87 sets out of a possible 96. The closest competition was from Totnes A ladies, who came second with 73 sets.  Salcombe's significant wins were against Kingsbridge, Totnes B and Thurlestone  where they recorded 8-0 victories against each of those clubs both home and away.  The philosophy of Salcombe is to give different players a chance to compete and this year 12 ladies from Salcombe played in the matches and each contributed to the success. In common with the rest of the club, Salcombe ladies enjoy plenty of social tennis every week all year round and cater for all standards of play. Good friendships have developed resulting  in a great deal of fun and competitivess at all levels.   This year the mixed league was a little more of a challenge for Salcombe as injuries kicked in at the beginning of the league season causing  sets to be conceded. This was a disappointing start as key players were laid off for several matches and  the four later matches  scheduled on the same nights as ladies' matches strained the demand for players. However, as the season moved on the situation righted itself and the Salcombe mixed team went on to show their strength of play. Thirteen players played for Salcombe in the mixed league and having been threatened with relegation they came back to a safe division one position. With local rivalry always adding a frisson to matches, Salcombe were particularly delighted with their 7-1, 8-0 victories over Kingsbridge in the mixed league.
