Windward House, part of Centrum Care Homes Group, has achieved a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, marking a significant milestone for the South Brent based service and recognising a sustained period of improvement across the home.

The latest inspection confirms that Windward House has successfully progressed from its previous Requires Improvement rating, with regulators acknowledging strengthened leadership, improved governance, safer care practices and a positive, resident focused culture.

In its report, the Care Quality Commission highlighted that previous regulatory concerns had been addressed and that the service is no longer in breach of regulations. Inspectors recognised clear improvements in oversight, risk management, staffing arrangements and quality assurance systems, alongside a proactive approach to learning and continuous development.

The inspection also captured positive feedback from residents, relatives, staff and visiting professionals, noting visible leadership within the home, an open management style and a team committed to delivering safe, compassionate and person centred care.

Emma Corderoy, Senior Operations Manager at Centrum Care Homes Group, said: “This is an extremely important achievement for Windward House and a reflection of the determination and professionalism shown by the entire team. Improving a regulatory rating requires consistent effort, strong leadership and a deep commitment to doing the right things for residents every single day.

“We are particularly encouraged by the regulator’s recognition of the progress made in governance, safety and culture. Windward House has worked hard to embed robust systems, strengthen team structures and ensure residents’ wellbeing remains at the centre of decision making. Outcomes like this are built through teamwork, accountability and a genuine passion for high quality care.”

The regulator’s findings identified improved governance arrangements, more effective monitoring systems and a clear emphasis on resident safety and dignity. Inspectors also acknowledged the home’s positive engagement with families and external stakeholders, reinforcing confidence in the service’s leadership and direction.

Ambika Prasad, Registered Manager at Windward House, said: “This rating represents the collective effort of a dedicated and caring team who have remained focused on improving every aspect of the home. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and this recognition from CQC reinforces the progress we have made together. We are proud of this outcome and fully committed to building on it.”

Windward House provides residential care with a strong focus on supporting older people, including those living with dementia, and continues to prioritise quality, safety and continuous improvement.

One family member of a resident said: “From my Dad’s initial home assessment to his last moments, Windward House showed genuine care, respect and compassion. They helped him have the best two months he’d had for a long time and as a family gave us precious time and moments that we will be forever grateful for.”
