Daynes Farm
In the South Hams, two family-run farms are proving that collaboration is just as important as hard work. Daynes Farm and Mount Folly Farm share a passion for producing quality local food while creating memorable experiences for visitors.
From homemade ice cream to organic farm shops, butchers and cafés and farm-fresh produce, both businesses celebrate the best of Devon.
By supporting one another and championing local suppliers, these small family farms strengthen their rural community while showcasing sustainable farming.
Together, they demonstrate that when farming families work hand in hand, everyone benefits, from local businesses to visitors enjoying an authentic countryside experience.
Daynes Farm near Harberton has grown into a flourishing destination, combining organic farming with a popular café, farm shop and butcher's counter. Dave and Helen manage over 1,000 acres, raising livestock and growing organic vegetables while championing sustainable farming.
Awarded ‘Processor of the Year’ by the Addington Fund, the farm is recognised for its farm-to-fork approach. Visitors enjoy homemade food, local produce and stunning South Hams views, while butcher Niall is known for his expert advice and quality meat.
Community remains central to the farm, with Open Farm Sunday attracting hundreds of visitors, and a ‘food in the community’ garden. New family play areas are planned as the business continues to grow.
Mount Folly Farm is a thriving family-run farm with a beautiful campsite overlooking the spectacular Bigbury island coastline, where quality, sustainability and family values are at the heart of everything they do.
Visitors can enjoy homemade ice cream, made on site using milk from their own organic dairy herd and available from their new produce vending shed, alongside delicious milkshakes, fresh eggs, and other local produce.
Growing up on the family farm, Cathy has introduced fresh ideas that have helped diversify and strengthen the business while honouring its traditions. Working with her husband Gordon and her parents, she has embraced innovative mixed farming and created opportunities for the next generation.
In 2026, Mount Folly Farm won the Best Family Farm Award for its resilience, innovation, and commitment to the future. Cathy’s eldest daughter Coral also won the Rising Star Award for leading the farm’s new organic dairy venture, reflecting the family’s shared vision for sustainable farming.
Together Daynes Farm and Mount Folly Farm are sharing love of local produce and working closely together to support our next generation of farmers.

At Catch of the Day Kingsbridge, we're passionate about bringing the very best of Devon's coastline to your table. As a family-run fishmongers with more than 70 years of heritage, we're proud to offer exceptional seafood, friendly service, and expert advice that keeps customers returning time and time again.
Darren and Emma bring over 40 years of combined experience in the fishing industry. Their knowledge, passion and commitment to quality mean every customer receives personal guidance, whether they're choosing the perfect fillet for supper or planning a special seafood feast.
Our fish is landed all around the South West and delivered fresh to our shop every day, ensuring the finest quality from boat to counter. Alongside beautifully fresh fish, we stock locally landed lobster, crab, scallops and mussels from the waters around Plymouth and the South West coastline. We also celebrate the wealth of outstanding local produce our region has to offer, working alongside Devon suppliers wherever possible to complement our seafood with products that reflect the flavours and traditions of the South Hams.
Darren's journey began as a young fisherman alongside his father before joining Plymouth Fish Quay at just 16, where he developed exceptional filleting skills and built a lifetime of industry knowledge. It was there he met Emma, whose remarkable career saw her become the UK's first female skipper of an under-10-metre trawler. Together they combined their expertise and, in 2010, took over Catch of the Day Kingsbridge, creating the welcoming, knowledgeable business customers know today.
We're especially proud of our traditional in-house smoking, producing our famous Salcombe Smokies, alongside our delicious multi award winning smoked mackerel and fantastic award winning hot, and cold, smoked salmon. Our freezer range also includes carefully selected seafood favourites, from prawns and squid to fishcakes and seafood medleys, making it easy to enjoy quality seafood at home.
Our dedication to quality has been recognised through multiple Taste of the West Awards since 2019, including Champion Fish Product for our Salcombe Smokies and repeated Gold Awards for our home-smoked salmon. These awards reflect not only the quality of our seafood but also the expertise, care and friendly service that define everything we do. We look forward to welcoming you into our shop and sharing the very best of Devon's sea and local produce.
