Trevor Parsons, of Newlands Park, Ivybridge, writes: As a former mayor of Ivybridge, I was shocked to read in this week's Gazette the article about the violent attack on two members of our police force. When I was mayor, I worked very closely with our local police and the young people of our town to improve working relationships and understanding, and this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable. That said, the youth charged with this attack was not from Ivybridge but from outside the area. Should he be found guilty, I just hope the magistrates or judge or who sit in judgement throw the book at him,. I am so pleased that our local young people, who are a credit to our lovely town of Ivybridge, showed compassion and support to these two police officers. I am sure you will all join me in wishing Jude and Anya a speedy recovery and also thanking the youth of our town for the help and support they gave.
