The Kingsbridge Show was an ‘outstanding success’ over the weekend, with hundreds of families coming along to enjoy the event.
The show had perennial favourites with the equestrian, livestock, horticultural and craft classes, as well as newcomers in the shape of the field gun crews and live cooking demonstrations throughout the day.
Thurlestone resident Vanessa Barton, said: ‘After a busy summer, with people working very hard, the Kingsbridge Show is an opportunity to get together as a community.’
The show’s trade and marketing secretary Kathy Harrod said: ‘The Kingsbridge Show committee would like to thank everyone who helped to make the 2015 event such an outstanding success.
‘We’ve received a lot of very positive feedback following the show from those who entered the wide variety of classes we offer, as well as from showground visitors and the many traders who joined us.
‘Our main-ring entertainment ensured that great numbers of people were glued to the ringside, while our other new exhibits, classes, and especially the new live cooking demonstrations, saw a steady stream of people all eager to try to cram all the sights and sounds into the
one day.
‘The new pricing structure of £10 per adult and children entering free of charge was commented on as making this day out one of the best in terms of value for money, and we were pleased to see a great many families having fun.’
Hundreds of local suppliers and businesses were at the showground on Saturday, keeping everyone full of cakes, food and fudge, as well as providing an opportunity to pick up a flagon of local cider or an original piece of jewellery or furniture.
Children could enter the horticultural and homecraft marquee and pet small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, while a selection of poultry, including geese, ducks and a turkey, could be seen happily milling around a pond in the corner.
‘Planning for our 2016 show has already started – we’ve got some very special attractions lined up and we hope you’ll save the date of Saturday, September 3, 2016, so that once again you can enjoy a wonderful day out with us,’ said Kathy.
