A FUND set up in memory of a well known local businessman has come up trumps for two Kingsbridge youngsters. The Jack Tanner Award was begun in memory of the local businessman, who ran Tanners in Fore Street for many years. It aims to help remove some of the hurdles which young people face to entering education, training or employment. And this year the fund has helped locals Lucy Stanley and Luke Evershed, who both attend the 16-24 Work Club in Kingsbridge. Lucy was unemployed when she started attending the Work Club earlier in the year. She now has a job, and has received help towards kit to use on her motorcycle obtained through Devon Wheels To Work. Luke Evershed, who is off to start a media degree at Falmouth University, has been helped to buy some much needed equipment. Peter Richardson, fund administrator, came along to the 16-24 Work Club drop-in to present the funds and meet the young people in person. For more information about the 16-24 Work Club and the wide variety of help that they can give to young people, visit http://www.kingsbridgeworkclub.com">www.kingsbridgeworkclub.com. Alternatively, they run a drop-in session every Tuesday from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm in Kingsbridge Age Concern, or call work club co-ordinator Sha Hard on 07864 060652.
