Nicola King, of Davis Road, Dartmouth, writes:

Am I the only Dartmouth resident wondering why the West Dart development has been approved when only 26.4 – 11 per cent – of the 240 dwellings due to be built are to be ‘affordable’?

Surely any reader of the Chronicle is able to peruse the 13 property pages or any of the websites of the local estate agents to see that there really is no shortage of unaffordable housing in this area.

In fact, there are some apartments awaiting buyers slap-bang on the embankment that were due to be occupied by the last regatta. Ideal for local families!

There are abundant empty and unaffordable properties already without eradicating our green belt with eyesores such as the carbuncle that has caused so much unsurprising controversy.
