A pilates instructor who has been offering classes in exchange for a donation to St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth has raised more than £5,500.

Wendy Jamieson from Lee Mill started the classes in October 2015 with just four people, and has attracted more and more takers to the Westward Inn on Tuesday evenings.

She paid tribute to the "amazing support" she has received from those attending, who almost all make a donation to St Luke’s in lieu of payment for the free classes.

Wendy said: "We now have about 40 regulars, plus others who drop in and out of the class, and so far we have raised just over £5,500. We intend to keep going for as long as The Westward Inn will let us.

"I have to add that we couldn’t possibly have raised this much money without the support of landlady Louisa Hutchings. She lets us use this room free of charge so that every single penny goes to the hospice."
