Jonno Barrett, of the Phosphate-free Estuary campaign, Bigbury, writes:

Thanks to Jane Sturdee and Alison Denham for their useful letters regarding phosphates and algal blooms. It's a real problem but the good news is that it can be tackled.

We can all make a difference in two simple ways:

l Use phosphate-free cleaning products.

l Scrape excess fats off your plates – don't wash them down the drain where they block the treatment systems and cause overspill.

I'm glad Alison found our leaflet, and you can see more at http://www.phosphatefree.org.uk">www.phosphatefree.org.uk.

We'd love more volunteers to join our group and help spread the word, so do get in touch.
